The Georgi Museum and Park Center, located at 21 Adams Lane in Shushan, NY is pleased to announce a series of important developments and facility improvements that reflect its continued commitment to preserving its history, caring for its collections, and providing an engaging and welcoming experience for visitors.
A significant achievement for the organization is the recent approval of its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, an important milestone that strengthens its ability to fulfill its mission of preservation, educating the public, and expanding opportunities for community involvement and support.
As part of ongoing efforts to improve the visitor experience, the museum is enhancing its facilities with the installation of a new HVAC system with the installation of mini splits, which will help to provide a more comfortable environment for guests while supporting the long-term care and preservation of the museum’s collections. Additional accessibility improvements include the installation of a new ADA-compliant entrance door, ensuring that the museum remains welcoming and accessible to visitors of all abilities.
Facility updates have also continued throughout the Community Room, including freshly painted restrooms and the addition of a changing table to better accommodate families and create a more visitor-friendly environment.
The museum is currently undertaking a thoughtful reassessment of its Asian ceramic collection, reviewing the collection’s presentation, interpretation, and future opportunities for exhibition. This process reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to responsible stewardship and meaningful engagement with its historical and cultural resources.
To better serve the community in the digital age, the Georgi Museum and Park Center has launched an updated website with a new FB page to come soon. These enhanced online resources will provide visitors with improved access to museum information, upcoming events, collection highlights, and opportunities to participate in the organization’s activities.
We look forward to sharing these improvements with visitors and continuing our mission of preserving and interpreting the stories that connect the past with the present.
